Some mornings I get so much accomplished, while others I’m just lucky to get the kids ready for the school bus in time. Ever have those days? Of course you all do! This week, join me in celebrating the small wins and tweet them to enter to win some fun swag from BelVita.

Here are the details:

Log on to MorningWin.com from 9am ET until 1pm ET between September 15 and September 19, 2014. Wondering what you can win? Check out the video below!

I’ll be following along on Twitter to see all your morning wins! Here have been some of mine lately:

1) I didn’t wake anyone up when I tripped over a toy in the upstairs hallway and yelled out in pain

2) I reviewed all of Luke’s practice words before his school bus came

3) I sent the kids off with fresh fruit in their lunchboxes

Creating A World Where No Child Goes Hungry

I am proud to be partnering with Feed the Children, an organization that exists to end childhood hunger. I’ve shared how important this cause is to me numerous times here on the blog and will continue to do so until all children have enough food to eat. It seems like a lofty goal but I truly believe that it’s one that could be seen in my lifetime.

Currently, hunger hurts 1 out of every 7 children. Feed The Children is working on a number of initiatives to end child hunger, one of them being a pilot program in Oklahoma City. The pilot, called Oklahoma Summer Food and Education Program, represents Feed the Children’s new vision and commitment to unite like-minded organizations to defeat the status quo of hunger.

In Oklahoma, the school lunch program that lower-income families depend on shuts down for the summer break, which means roughly 300,000 children may be left without a stable source of nutrition. While the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program helps fill that gap over the summer, there are still children who go hungry. Feed the Children’s Pilot program provides better access to more meals and also educational resources like books and school supplies.

Though this program will be focused on Oklahoma this summer, it will benefit those who live in other places as well. Results from the pilot program will be offered to Feed the Children partners to identify ways to better solve summer food insecurity that have impact, are far-reaching and cost-effective. This will hopefully spur programs in other states.

Want to learn more about Feed The Children or The Oklahoma Summer Food and Education Program? Join me at the #HelpKidsBeKids Twitter Party on July 9th from 1-2 PM EST.

Join The #SoFabSpirit Twitter Party!

Four years ago I joined a blogging community called Social Fabric. I had no idea, at the time, how much I’d grow to love the community and how much of an impact it would have on my life. It started as “just another blogging community” I was a part of but, looking back, I feel it’s THE thing that put me on the road to blogging professionally and not just blogging as a hobby. I loved participating in campaigns but even more so, liked connecting with the people that were part of the community. The Social Fabric members are so creative and they inspire me everyday to be a better blogger.

I now work for Collective Bias, the company that runs the community, and this week, we are celebrating our community and showing off our #SoFabSpirit. At the end of the week we are going to have a Twitter Party. It’ll be our 5th birthday soon, so we’re celebrating all things SoFab including our amazing community, the great work that they produce, and getting pumped for a new year of fabulous social media adventures!

5 Tips To Protect Your Online Identity

Think about all of the things you do online. You email, you save and share pictures, you connect with family and friends on social networks, you bookmark recipes and ideas you want to do in the future…now imagine if one day you logged in and everything was GONE. How would you feel? This is what happened to Mat Honan. Within one hour hackers were able to destroy Mat’s digital life, including erasing everything on his iPhone, iPad and Macbook. He shared the whole story, including his mistakes and Apple’s huge security flaws, over at Wired. Mat eventually got 75% of his hard drive back but it cost him over $1600 to do so and he still lost some important documents and emotionally valuable photos.

Trend Micro brought this story to my attention and asked me, as one of their Digital Joneses bloggers, to share Mat’s story with you all and how we can make sure it doesn’t happen to us. They also sent our family tablets and stressed the importance of securing our tablets like we do our laptops. Trend Micro shared 5 things we can do to secure our tablets {and really our digital life in general}:

Tip #1:

Tip #2:

Tip #3:

Tip #4:

Tip #5:

I thought these were great tips. Some I use already, like receiving emails when someone signs into my Facebook account from a location I never have used before and not saving my credit card info on sites. Some were things I had never considered before, like leaving my social media pages open on my computer and linking sites together. Those things that make it easy for me to quickly get things done online also make it easy for hackers to access personal details.

Do you follow all of the tips above? If not, which ones do you struggle with following?
