10 Healthy Lifestyle Tips From Kristi Yamaguchi {Giveaway}

(Disclosure: This is a sponsored post. Tips are from Kristi Yamaguchi but other thoughts are my own.)

I was super excited to get a chance to attend a virtual webinar with Kristi Yamaguchi and Alpine Lace® Deli Cheese. I knew Kristi would have a ton of great tips for staying active and balanced. I love that she admitted that when she gets asked how she does it all, her answer is “I don’t”! Here are my favorite tips that Kristi had to share:

1) It’s all about prioritizing what’s important to you. Kristi said, “doing my best is better than doing it all”.

2) Take 30 minutes of “me” time each day to do something that makes you happy

3) Always buy some healthy snacks to eat on the go. Kristi suggests fresh fruit and crackers with cheese.

4) For those that sit for long periods of time (like those who work from home), Kristi says you should get up and stretch for about 5 minutes each hour. She says that is what they do in Japan.

5) Encourage your kids to go outside and play…and play with them! (Get off that bench mommas!)

6) Stay connected to friends. If you are hanging out with your girlfriends, get that next coffee chat or night out on the calendar before you all leave the table.

7) Invite friends to do something active because it will hold you accountable and you’ll have more fun!

8) Keep a daily journal to write your thoughts in

9) Have some healthy go-to dinner ingredients on hand. Kristi’s favorite is stir fry chicken with lots of her kid’s favorite veggies in it.

10) Get kids involved in exercise with you

  3. My favorite tip would have to be this: Take 30 minutes of “me” time each day to do something that makes you happy

I don’t think people take enough time to themselves to do something that makes them truly happy.

  7. Give your kids time outside and every day and play with them!! I always try and make sure my kid gets at least 15 minutes of fresh air, even if I don’t want to for any reason lol (weather) and also make sure I try an get off my butt and run around with them too!!

  8. “Take 30 minutes of “me” time each day to do something that makes you happy”, I feel like a lot of women can benefit from this. Especially mothers and those that are essentially the main ones running their household.

  10. “Encourage your kids to go outside and play” – it bugs me that they would rather sit inside on a beautiful day and play video games.

  12. I like the tip to play with your kids outside. I have noticed that my daughter plays a lot longer when I play with her and I’m not just sitting and watching. Plus, I get exercise too.

  13. All of these tips are very good ones and I copied them and printed them out so I’ll remember to do them! I really Iike the one that says to send your kids outside to play and play with them. Some of the best times I had playing as a kid were outside doing various things. Kids nowadays have so many indoor things to occupy them so I think sending them outside is a great idea and great for them….and getting outside is great for us parents too! The half hour of me time is pretty important too…..I would have picked this but I already do it as I find taking a little bit of time for me helps me relax, prioritize and get things done with less stress…. Me time is very important…. Really love these items….alpine lace is by far our fav Swiss cheese, both on stuff and as a snack itself…. And this jacket is perfect, size and color that I’d pick myself and would be great to wear when sending the kids outside and when taking my dogs on walks in the early am….and I just love the journal….so thanks for the chance to win this great giveaway!

  15. Number 5 is my favorite. I think that with the technology we have today, kids don’t go outside as much as they used to. I want my kids to enjoy the outdoors like I did when I was younger.

  16. I love all of her tips and try to do them. I guess my favorite is to not sit longer than an hour…I like to get up and do jumping jacks/pushups, etc.

  17. My favorite thing she said is 2) Take 30 minutes of “me” time each day to do something that makes you happy, I believe in this 100% as being a stay at home mom is something I commonly forget to do.
