Gold At The End Of The Rainbow Sensory Bin

I love sensory tables and if you do as well I have something fun to share with you! I’m participating in a 40 day series all about sensory bin fillers. 40 bloggers, 40 days, and 40 different items you can add to your sensory tables!

Today, I am sharing about feathers. I love using feathers because they are soft but have a texture to them that is unique and I love hearing my kids giggle as the feathers tickle their hands. They come in all kinds of colors so any themed table you are trying to create you can probably add feathers to.

On Monday I shared a very green St. Patrick’s Day sensory tub so today I wanted to share a more colorful one. I kept it very simple because most of the time if something isn’t simple it won’t get put together. I used a bag of colorful feathers and some gold coins and made a “Gold at the End of the Rainbow” sensory tub.

It wasn’t quite a rainbow since I didn’t realize that the mixed bag of feathers I grabbed as I ran through the store the other day didn’t contain all the colors of the rainbow but I think you all get the point :)

I really wish I had little black pots for them to put the gold in but I couldn’t find them anywhere in stores. Lucas liked finding the coins and then hiding them for others to find. We practiced counting. With Jake we did some simple addition and subtraction. If you have all of the rainbow colors they can make a rainbow out of the feathers.

Other seasonal themed sensory tables I’ve made with feathers include a Halloween Jack O’ Lantern sensory table and a Valentine’s Day themed sensory table.
