One more pound…. #knockoutthefat

I lost two pounds this week which surprised me because I kind of splurged on my birthday. I went to a theme park that day though so I’m guessing the miles I walked burned all the calories from that funnel cake I ate. I currently weigh 182.6 which means I have lost a total of nine pounds since the start of the George Foreman #knockoutthefat weight loss challenge. My goal is ten pounds (or more) and this is the last week of the challenge so I hope to lose at least one pound this coming week. My BMI is down to 29.5.

In case you missed it here is a yummy Southwestern Chicken Panini recipe I posted this past week: yum.

#KnockOutTheFat Week in Review

I do so well eating healthy foods during the week but then on the weekend I enjoy myself a little too much. This weekend I went out to dinner Friday night with my family and had pizza. I enjoyed the pizza but did not go overboard in how many pieces I ate which is something I would have done just a few short months ago. On Saturday I went to ChiTown Mom’s Nite Out. I didn’t eat before the event because there was a chef that would be preparing food for us and I left my house at around 3 in the afternoon which is way too early for dinner. I ended up eating way more appetizers than I had planned on because I was starving. The chef did say that the items were healthy (they had lots of veggies in them) but I don’t think they were necessarily low in fat.

Exercise wise I did a lot of indoor walking but nothing outdoors. It was hot and humid outside and I was dripping sweat just walking to the mailbox. This week is supposed to be a little cooler (though still hot) so I hope to get outside and take the kids for more walks. I didn’t use my wii at all this week for exercising but was successful in my “desk workouts”.

Overall, I lost .4 pounds and am down 7 pounds total since the start of this challenge. My BMI is 29.8. I am proud of the progress I am making because this is the most I have ever lost while doing a “challenge”. I still hope to drop 3 pounds in the next few weeks so I need to really focus on eating nothing unhealthy and exercising more than I am. I will let myself have one “cheat” day though for my birthday and have a slice of cake (but a moderate one)!

Also, be on the lookout for some YouTube videos from me this week and next week! I’m going to share just how easy it is to use (and clean) the George Foreman Grill and show you just how much fat using the grill can “knock out” :)

#KnockOutTheFat Weekly Update

This week I am down .4 pounds and currently weigh 185 pounds which is down 6.6 pounds since the start of the campaign. My BMI is 29.9.

I have found a great way to stay active while sitting at my desk working many hours a day. I started using Spotify which is a free music service. Listening to music while I work keeps me moving and constantly burning calories whether I’m tapping my foot or dancing in my seat.

Food wise I’ve worked on eating dinner earlier which is one of the problems I brought up in last week’s post. I ate an earlier dinner 5 out of the 7 nights this past week. I also ate well pretty much the whole week. My only “bad” day was  Saturday when I was at a blogging event. I had a sandwich and salad for lunch and a salad for dinner but ate some cheesecake they served for afternoon snack and had a few too many snacks at the “after party” .

#KnockOutTheFat Weekly Update

I finally feel like I am on the right track!

Food:

GOOD: I cut out so many calories by watching for those “hidden calories” that I talked about last week.

GOOD: Yummy wraps for lunch made on my George Foreman Grill.

NOT SO GOOD: Eating late at night. When I’m working I don’t realize that dinnertime has come and gone until my tummy growls!

Exercise:

GOOD: I am loving the Wii Fit!!

GOOD: I am making extra “trips” for things on different levels of my house so that I have to go up the stairs more often!

NOT SO GOOD: I had hoped to start my day with working out but I always seem to do most of it late at night and then I’m energized when I should be ready to go to sleep.

I currently weigh 185.4 which is a 1.4 pound loss since last week and a total loss of 6.2 pounds. Even better? My BMI is 29.9 which means I am no longer obese!!!! This was the first goal that I was hoping to hit in this challenge and I made it! My next challenge is losing a total of 10 pounds. I have less that 4 pounds to go to make that goal a reality.

Hidden Calories #KnockOutTheFat

I was pouring salad dressing on my salad the other day and I looked down and noticed that the Italian salad dressing I was using was not fat free like I thought it was…it had SEVEN grams of fat! Here I was having a salad with vegetables, grilled chicken, and shredded cheese thinking the cheese was the most fattening part of my salad but it turned out it was my salad dressing! It made me wonder how many hidden calories I had been consuming without even realizing it. I will definitely be checking food labels from now on. I tend to just assume something is low fat/low calorie but I need to make sure it is.

Other than that I did pretty good with eating this week. I attended a wedding where our meals were picked out for us so I had some pasta but tried to fill up on the “healthier” parts of the meal like the salad. And I skipped dessert which looked absolutely delicious. It was a pastry filled with ice cream and covered with chocolate. I also went out to eat one night with my family but the choices were only hot dogs and burgers so I chose to get nothing and eat a salad when I went home. I also bought my boys ice cream and didn’t get one for myself. I have been finding that it’s become much easier to say no to dessert, something I could never really do before.

Exercise wise I didn’t make it out to walk as much as I’d hope to with the kids. I have been using the Wii that I won from the conference to exercise with the Fit In Six game that I also got there. I like the game but it’s shorter workouts so I have to do multiple of them. I’ve been doing toning, cardio, and dance workouts. The weight loss is very slow for me and I think a lot has to do with the fact that I spend a lot of time at my desk working so along with what I’m already doing I hope to find some exercises that I can do while sitting down.

(Sorry about the horrible cell phone camera close up shot!)

This week I gained .2 pounds and now weigh 186.8. I am down 4.8 pounds since starting this challenge. My BMI is still 30.1.

Eating While Out Of Town #knockoutthefat

This week I spent a few days out of town in Asheville, North Carolina at a blogging conference. I brought along healthy snacks (including fresh fruits and vegetables) to snack on during the car rides. While at the conference we were fed breakfast and lunch. I was both surprised and excited that there were many healthy options to choose from. For breakfast I ended up eating scrambled eggs and fruit. Lunches varied but one day there was a chicken and cabbage wrap which tasted better than I thought it would. I tried to eat as healthy as I could at breakfast and lunch because I knew I would be going out to dinner at some delicious restaurants so I wanted to save the calories for those foods. My dinners included seafood, tapas, and a salad with chicken and apples. I ended up turning down some heavenly sounding food including bacon wrapped scallops covered with maple syrup.

I ended up losing weight this week, two pounds to be exact! Even better? I am at the lowest weight I’ve been so far during this challenge- 186.6! That is a total of 5 pounds lost since I started in May. My BMI is currently 30.1 which is .1 away from my goal BMI.

#KnockOutTheFat Weekly Update

This journey of weight loss has been a continuous battle for me. In the past month and a half I have been frustrated with the weight the scale showed. I thought that by starting this challenge I would see the pounds come off each time I weighed myself but that is not the case. I am eating healthier and exercising more but apparently I am not doing a good enough job at the two because every other week I gain weight. I currently weigh 188.6 pounds which is the same exact weight I weighed two weeks ago but over a pound more than I weighed at my last weigh in. I weigh 3 pounds less than I did at the start of the Knock Out The Fat Weight Loss Challenge. My BMI is at 30.4.

This week should be a challenge because I will be out of town at a blogging conference for the last half of it. I am sure I will be faced with a lot of unhealthy eating options so I am bringing my own healthier options. I also plan to put fruits and vegetables in a cooler to take with for the road trip so I don’t get tempted by fast food restaurants. For exercise I will be going on the morning walks and hope to find a gym at the hotel. I am also going to remember what I learned a few weeks ago- “moderation”. I will let myself enjoy my time at the conference and indulge in something I really want to eat but will do so in moderation.

Food Cravings and Weight Gain #KnockOutTheFat

I gained weight this past week. At one point early in the week my scale said I was down to 185.6 which was more than a pound lost. Then came the weekend and I was craving sweets and other unhealthy foods. I had some birthday cake for my son’s birthday on Saturday and then Sunday I caved and had 3/4 of a chocolate bar and pizza. I went on a two mile walk pushing a double stroller around and hoping that those calories burned equaled the calories I had consumed. They didn’t. I now weigh 188.6 which is a 1.8 pound weight gain and brings my BMI to 30.4. I am happy that I am still under the weight I was two weeks ago but would have liked to see the scale show a lower weight than it did last week.

My goal for this week is to take the boys on a long walk at least 5 times. Food wise I need to find less calorie filled ways of enjoying the foods I’m craving. I think instead of the candy bar I should have had a chocolate fat free pudding. That would have been the better choice. What other foods have you found to substitute for unhealthier options? I’d love to hear them!
