Our Favorites From The Chicago Toy & Game Fair

(Disclosure: My family attended the Chicago Toy & Game Fair as media and received some free toys and games. I also purchased some items there. All thoughts are my own.)

Last Saturday morning we spent time playing at the Chicago Toy & Game Fair. There were lots of great games and toys, some that we had seen before and many that were new to us. Here are some of our favorites we found:

Tenkai Knights

Tenkai Knights are small bricks that turn into figures about the size of LEGO men. My boys both loved these even though they are a bit too young for them (the package says 6-14). There are also larger sets to build that go with these Tenkai Knights.

Chuggington Trains and Track Sets

We love Chuggington at our house and have many of the trains and sets. The folks from Chuggington set up this tall track by hooking together multiple sets and all the kids went wild over it. These trains and track sets would make a great gift for preschoolers!

Pokemon Battle Arena

Jacob, my 5 year old, has just gotten into Pokemon lately. He enjoyed playing with the characters that went along with this Battle Arena but the arena itself was a little too advanced for him. This would make a great gift for the Pokemon lover who is about 7-9 years old.

Pop The Pig

Pop the Pig is a fun game for preschoolers that both boys enjoyed checking out. It will be under our Christmas tree this year.

Crazy Forts

Crazy Forts is the perfect activity for a rainy day. Kids build a structure with the pieces and then use a blanket or sheet to create a fort. Lucas loved sitting inside the igloo fort they made.

 Overall, we had a ton of fun. So many new games and toys were added to our Christmas list!

Doodle Roll {Review and Giveaway}

I discovered Doodle Roll at the Chicago Toy and Game Fair and thought it was a great concept and would make a wonderful stocking stuffer or travel companion.

Doodle Roll is a portable art activity kit that comes with crayons and a roll of paper. It has 15 feet of paper so it will keep the kids busy for a while. It’s also great for when you have more than one child wanting to color because there is enough paper for everyone. If that wasn’t enough, the package is designed for safe, easy tear off of the paper and if you want to keep it all on one roll the paper can easily be pushed back into the dispenser.

BUY IT:

Doodle Roll can be purchased online or at a local retail store.

BROBO Review {And A Cute Video For The Kids}

One of my favorite toys from the Chicago Toy and Game Fair was the stuffed animals of BROBO and friends. I am not a huge fan of stuffed animals at all because I just feel they sit there and take up a lot of space but these little guys are so cute that they just won me over. The company let me pick one to take home to my children and I chose TREX the dinosaur. I like that the tag has a little bit about the kids new friend. It says, “TREX likes pizza, sharing, drawing, knock-knock jokes, and pizza.” Must really be a fan of pizza just like my little guys! These are very soft plush animals and feature an easy clean surface. Check out the boys loving on their new friend, TREX:

BROBO and his friends also have a video on YouTube that I discovered. It’s a song to help kids learn numbers and Jake watched it with a huge smile and wanted to keep watching it over and over again:

Coming in 2012 they will have light up BROBO robots. I saw the prototype at the Chicago Toy and Game Fair and they lit up when you put their hands to their chests.

Their website is not up yet but BROBO and his robot friends can be found on Facebook.

(Disclosure: I received a BROBO robot to review but all thoughts are my own.)
