Waterpik Ultra Water Flosser Review

I recently shared a review of Waterpik’s SinuSense that my mom loved using and now I want to share about another product they make called the Ultra Water Flosser. It is 50% more effective than just using thread floss and has been proven to remove 99.9% of plaque. Having never used water to floss before I did not really think this product would be that effective. Once I tried it though I loved it and don’t think I’ll ever go back to regular old floss. It was easy to use and, after flossing with it, my teeth felt smooth and clean. I didn’t feel any leftover particles on my teeth like I normally do after flossing.

I thought the design of the flosser was great. It had a large water capacity so it didn’t need to be refilled while flossing. The in-lid storage space for the six different tips was nice. I liked that there were a variety of tips, each with their own purpose. It even came with a tongue cleaner to freshen breath. There are 10 pressure settings so that each person can customize the cleansing level of the flosser. The water flosser is quiet so I don’t have to worry about it’s loud noise waking anyone up when I floss late at night before bed.

Kid Basix Safe Sporter Water Bottle Review

Jacob and Lucas carry their sippy cups with them everywhere so I was happy to receive a 16 ounce Kid Basix Safe Sporter water bottle for Jacob to try out. It is made of stainless steel so it’s reusable. This is great for both the environment and my wallet.

This water bottle has a lot of other great features. With warm weather here it’s important to me that I give the children their juice and milk in insulated cups and I found the Safe Sporter to keep the liquids cold for longer periods of time than the insulated cups we normally use. The stainless steel gets really cold (a little too cold sometimes in my opinion) so it also features a sleeve around the bottle to keep little hands from getting too cold when they are holding it. Jacob can easily life the spout up with his fingers which is nice since sometimes they are too hard to open and then he uses his teeth to try to pull it open. I loved that it had a cover over the spout so that the spout stays clean. This is great since the boys don’t always keep their cups and water bottles on the table and they often end up on the ground (especially when they are playing outside). The water bottle itself is easy to clean since the mouth of it is wide and it doesn’t have any little parts that need to be cleaned which is an added bonus. It also fits in cup holders so it’s great for the car and for strollers.

Natural House Cleaners Review & Giveaway

Happy Mothering

Welcome to the Green Spring Clean Giveaway Hop, hosted by Happy Mothering and SAPsMaMa! With Spring quickly approaching I am excited to offer my readers the opportunity to win some great green cleaning prize packages. In addition to my giveaway, there are 20+ other blogs featuring Green Spring Clean prize packages. After you’re done entering my giveaway, please visit the other blogs, which you’ll find at the bottom of this post. Good luck!

For my giveaway I am offering three non-toxic cleaning products by Natural House that are strong enough for commercial clean-up, yet safe and gentle for everyone. They contain good probiotics which continue to scour, clean, consume odors, grime, grease, and germs, and they continue to do so until the next weekly treatment. You can watch the video that explains more about how these products work.

I like that the products are natural and contain probiotics so they continued to cut odors and germs until the next cleaning. I found the products  very easy to use and each one had step by step directions on the back. The smells were nice and not too overpowering. The trash one smelled minty upon spraying it but after a minute or so the fresh smell was gone and the trash can smell was neutralized.

One person will win a month worth of Natural House Cleaners & $5 cash

WaterPik SinuSense Review

I was excited when I was send a couple products by WaterPik to review. The first product, SinuSense Water Pulsator, massages, cleanses and moistens sinus passages. It is great for allergy sufferers like myself but I let my mom review it because she has many issues with her nasal passages and I knew she’d benefit more from it. Here’s what she had to say:

I’ve been a long time sufferer of sinus infections and know about sinus rinses all to well.  I used SinuSense and loved the ease and convenience.  It made my nasal passages feel refreshed and clear.  On the whole, I am pleased with this innovative alternative to other nasal irrigation techniques. It’s convenient, easy, and effective.  I do wish it had a bigger tank so if you wanted to rinse a little more, you could do so without refilling.  I am  a chronic sinus sufferer, and I have done saline nasal rinse in the past and it was  always a little messy, but this product helps keep mess to a minimum.   You have complete control of the pulsating rinse and it cleans deep, and pulsates, leaves sinus clear and helps with inflammation.  It seems helpful with my current congestion problems and I feel a lot better after using it.  I love that it is manufactured by a well respected company and Waterpik offers a $10.00 off coupon on its website that makes this a terrific deal.

KNORK Flatware Review & Giveaway {Rafflecopter}

Are you ready for a Super Giveaway Event with the chance to win an amazing prize? I am so excited to share with you all KNORK!

KNORK enhances the dining experience by integrating a fork with the functionality of a knife built in. And they are AWESOME!

About the Sponsor: Innovative creativity can come from anywhere. And that is what happened the day Mike Miller went to a pizzeria with friends and struggled to eat pizza neatly with a normal fork—while trying to impress the ladies joining them for dinner. He noticed an employee using a pizza slicer, imagined how that functionality could exist on his fork, and the rest is flatware history. KNORK Flatware is ergonomically designed to correctly fit the way we naturally eat. Its patented design combines innovation and function to produce a complete line of modern flatware designed with comfort, style and stability in mind. Each piece features attributes unique to KNORK including smooth stem fingertip platforms, ergonomic shape and a heavier, balanced design that won’t bend or fall from a plate. Knork Flatware adds another dimension to flatware – design with purpose. Knork is a brand with modern innovative products, unique design and practical function. Our flatware is the favorite of several world-renown chefs and is also used in culinary competitions on Bravo TV’s “Top Chef All-Stars Season 8” show and “Top Chef Texas”. Knork Flatware is the exclusive silverware for the first annual Los Angeles Food and Wine Event. Restaurants using Knork include Stefan Richter’s Stefan’s at LA Farm, Chef Ludo Lefebvre LudoBites8 in LA, and Richard Blais’ FLiP Burger. iNG in Chicago, Food Network Chef Chris Cosentino’s PIGG in LA, Reef and Stella Sola in Houston as well as many other acclaimed restaurants across the country also use Knork. Knork has been featured on the Food Network’s Unwrapped, Rachael Ray touted Knork as her new fave thing, and we have been featured in DailyCandy and Thrillist.

Check out KNORK: Website, Facebook, Twitter and Pinterest

Personal Review: Heather from Full Price? Never! was lucky enough to try out the KNORK flatware. She thought they were great! Here are her thoughts ” When I first received the flatware I was shocked at how solid they were. They were heavier than any other set I had ever used. You could instantly tell that these were made of quality materials and are built to last. I was happy to see that the forks were not sharp on the sides {a safety concern with children using them}, instead they cut like a knife due to their design. They are also really easy to hold. I give these a thumbs up!”

Here’s the great part! I’ve joined Full Price? Never! to bring you this great giveaway! I love knowing that one lucky reader is going to get a makeover of their flatware! Perfect for your next dinner party!

What you can win: (valued at $250, shipping included)

  • 2 Matte 20 piece sets (place setting for 8)
  • 1 Knork Purpose Built Storage Tray

PhotoTrax Review & Giveaway

PhotoTrax is designed to easily slide 4×6 photos in and out while it’s attached to the wall, but can also accommodate larger photos too. It’s the fast and fun way to display your favorite pictures and artwork. They go up quickly and removable and adjustable for frequent photo changing.

Get your family photos off your computer, out of those albums and on the wall!

Use your PhotoTrax to :

  • Create a room border
  • Decorate any room
  • Display your child’s artwork
  • Create word collage designs
  • Surround yourself with photos that make you happy!

Review by Mom Does Reviews:

I was very excited to get my PhotoTrax in the mail last week! I was even more excited to find out how easy they are to use. You know when a product is user-friendly when the instructions only have 3 or 4 steps. The first step was to remove the adhesive squares and stick them to the back of the Trax (one in each corner). Then press the Trax firmly to the wall. Then fill with photos or artwork! Now, if you want to use the Trax for bigger photos or art projects, you can split the Trax and customize them to fit any size picture. They come pre-scored for easy splitting. Mount the bottom Trax on the wall first, the put the photos or papers (all of the same size) on the bottom groove. The place the top Trax onto the photos and press firmly onto the wall. It was so easy to put up, my 9 year-old put some up in his room for his favorite posters that come in his Lego Magazines. We are planning to redecorate his room, using the PhotoTrax will make everything so much easier and less permanent.

PhotoTrax is the perfect solution for anyone who loves to display family pictures and kiddie artwork! Front-loading photos is so much easier than dealing with frames or photo albums. Mom Does Reviews highly recommends PhotoTrax for anyone that wants any easy way to display photos, artwork, posters and more. The possibilities are endless!

The only thing I didn’t like about PhotoTrax is that I want more!

Be sure to visit PhotoTrax on Facebook. Tell them what you would use your PhotoTrax for!

Thanks to PhotoTrax for donating a 4-pack box ($12.99 value) to one lucky winner.

Go Green With The Lorax and Seventh Generation! {Review and Prize Pack Giveaway}

In partnership with Universal Studios’ motion picture debut of Dr. Seuss’s The Lorax* also known as the “Speaker for the Trees” who brings environmental truth and ecological hope to all, Seventh Generation will feature limited edition Lorax prints on all our diapers and training pants. These prints are intended to remind parents and caregivers of the lessons of The Lorax, and encourage family reading and environmental awareness while creating a few smiles. Discover (or rediscover) Dr. Suess’ The Lorax as you read about his legacy and messages of sustainability with your child, and inspire a new generation of environmentalists starting with your family!

I normally don’t use Seventh Generation brand products but was happy to try them out because they had a cute Lorax print and I wanted to try a more eco-friendly option than what I am currently using. Upon first glance at the Free & Clear Training Pants I noticed that they have really stretchy sides and waist. I like this because they fit snuggly on the child while still being comfortable. I found the training pants were thinner than the brand that I normally used which worried me at first but I discovered that they absorbed fluids well and didn’t sag like our other ones do. Other perks of these training pants are that they are hypo-allergenic and free of chlorine processing, fragrance and latex. The only downfall is that I like to buy my diapers and training pants in larger packages and it seems that these products are not available in bulk packaging.

GIVEAWAY:

One winner will win a package of training pants {in the size they choose} and “The Lorax” book

I am really excited about the product I am giving away. i Play. offers a full line of outerwear to keep your baby or young child warm and dry when the weather is chilly. Their products are hypoallergenic and free of harsh chemicals. All items are PVC free.

We got a reversible vest to review. I love the colors and that one side is printed and one is plain. The vest looks like it’s made of quality material and has just the right amount of “puffiness” to it. It has a flap over the top of the zipper to keep it from irritating the skin which is a huge plus since Jacob has sensory issues. The vest also has matching pieces which I love.

Bertolli’s “Make A Weeknight Special” Challenge

When Bertolli’s frozen soups first came out I was invited to try out the soups at a blogging event. I shared then how much I loved these soups so I was more than happy to work with Bertolli again. Bertolli challenged a group of bloggers to make a weeknight special by preparing a nice dinner for two in less than an hour. I knew this would be such an easy challenge to complete. I took the soup out of the freezer and dumped it all into a pot and turned the heat on. I had to stir it occasionally but while the soup was cooking I poured some wine, took out bread, and added some fresh flowers and was completely ready for a special meal with Sinisa in less than 20 minutes. How easy is that!? {And wouldn’t that make a special date-night-in for Valentine’s Day if you don’t have a sitter?}

This one is my favorite out of all the varities

***

Dinner is served! 20 minutes is all it took to prepare a special dinner for two :)

 More about the Bertolli Meal Soups:

·      Bertolli® Frozen Meal Soups are hearty and fresh-tasting with vegetables, meats, pasta and herbs individually flash frozen at the  peak of freshness.

·      Bertolli® Frozen Meal Soups are available in the frozen aisle, and can be prepared on your stovetop in minutes.

·      With robust flavors and rich textures, new Bertolli® Frozen Meal Soups are available in four varieties: Chicken Minestrone, Roasted Chicken & Rotini Pasta, Tomato Florentine & Tortellini with Chicken, and Tuscan-Style Beef with Vegetables.

Bertolli can also be found on Facebook and on Twitter.

Tide Coldwater Challenge

Tide is the laundry detergent brand my mom always used when I was growing up. Back then I didn’t think about “energy efficiency” or low electric bills. In fact, I normally left lights on all throughout the house without a second thought. Now that I’m living on my own though, saving money is very important to me so I’m glad that the same brand that my family trusted growing up is now one that is helping cut energy costs.

Tide has come out with a new product called Tide Coldwater that can get clothes clean with the added bonus of reducing your energy bill when you switch to washing your clothes in cold water. The new Tide detergent smells great and filled up my whole laundry room with it’s fresh scent. I washed a load in cold water and found that the clothes were just as clean as they would have been had I used hot water.

I think you should take the Tide Coldwater challenge and try washing clothes in cold water using this detergent and see what you think. Switching to cold water is an easy way to help the environment and save some money in the process!

(Disclosure: I received a sample and compensation from Tide and SheSpeaks but all thoughts about Tide Coldwater Detergent are my own.)

Reverse Charades {Review and Giveaway}

I’m sure you are all familiar with Charades- the game where one person acts out a word for their teammates to guess. While regular Charades is fun, Reverse Charades will have you laughing until your sides hurt. Imagine a team full of people acting out the same word {but not able to talk or communicate with each other} while one person attempts to guess what the word is. The team has 60 seconds to act out as many words as they can. Words like: synchronized swimming, piñata, paparazzi, dogpile, leapfrog, pillow fight or CPR. My first one was Dentist. Imagine acting that one out as a team when nobody knows who is the dentist and who is the patient because you can’t discuss it! Take a look at the video above for a demonstration of this game. It’s hilarious!

If you are still looking for some Christmas gift ideas I really think anyone 6 and over would love this game! Reverse Charades would make a great party game and the Junior edition of the game is wonderful for family bonding time.

Review Of Moon Dough’s New and Improved Formula

We were sent a Moon Dough breakfast set to review. I had never used Moon Dough before because I had heard that it was very messy but Moon Dough now has a new, improved formula and it is mess free! My favorite part about it was that it didn’t get stuck under my nails like other doughs do. It also won’t dry out which is a plus. Jacob loved it because it was easy to create things with the “push and pop” tools it came with. He spent a while making us pancakes, waffles and french toast. Here are some pictures of Jake playing with the Moon Dough:

Mertado {And A Great Giveaway For The Kitchen!}

I just learned about Mertado recently when I read about them online. They are a deal site where you can find a handpicked selection of items for your home and kitchen at special member only prices. Each item is only available for a limited time so if you find a great deal on there you need to buy it right then or you might miss it. When you are a member of Mertado {it’s free to join} you get email notices when new products are added. They also have “how to” videos and feature chefs sharing easy recipes so it’s worth checking out even if you aren’t looking to purchase any items for your home at the moment.

Mertado sent me two items from Peking Handicraft. I received a couple of kitchen towels from Ellen Crimi-Trent which were bright and cheery and perfect for winter and also an apron {from RagingBeauties.com} that I am going to rock when I cook. The apron says, “Santa, I could have been nicer… but doesn’t smart, beautiful and sexy count?” I didn’t have an apron before so I was excited to finally get one. Both items were good quality and the kitchen towels were a really nice size and seemed durable.

Great quality hand towels!

Doodle Roll {Review and Giveaway}

I discovered Doodle Roll at the Chicago Toy and Game Fair and thought it was a great concept and would make a wonderful stocking stuffer or travel companion.

Doodle Roll is a portable art activity kit that comes with crayons and a roll of paper. It has 15 feet of paper so it will keep the kids busy for a while. It’s also great for when you have more than one child wanting to color because there is enough paper for everyone. If that wasn’t enough, the package is designed for safe, easy tear off of the paper and if you want to keep it all on one roll the paper can easily be pushed back into the dispenser.

BROBO Review {And A Cute Video For The Kids}

One of my favorite toys from the Chicago Toy and Game Fair was the stuffed animals of BROBO and friends. I am not a huge fan of stuffed animals at all because I just feel they sit there and take up a lot of space but these little guys are so cute that they just won me over. The company let me pick one to take home to my children and I chose TREX the dinosaur. I like that the tag has a little bit about the kids new friend. It says, “TREX likes pizza, sharing, drawing, knock-knock jokes, and pizza.” Must really be a fan of pizza just like my little guys! These are very soft plush animals and feature an easy clean surface. Check out the boys loving on their new friend, TREX:

***

BROBO and his friends also have a video on YouTube that I discovered. It’s a song to help kids learn numbers and Jake watched it with a huge smile and wanted to keep watching it over and over again:

Coming in 2012 they will have light up BROBO robots. I saw the prototype at the Chicago Toy and Game Fair and they lit up when you put their hands to their chests.

Their website is not up yet but BROBO and his robot friends can be found on Facebook.

Gluten-Free Crunchmaster Multi-Grain Crackers {Review and Giveaway}

We are not a gluten free household but with all the talk I’ve been hearing lately about how helpful gluten free diets are to children with special needs we might be headed in that direction. I was excited to try my first product that’s labeled gluten free when I sampled Crunchmaster Multi-Grain Crackers. I was sent a case to try out which included three flavors. I wasn’t sure what to expect because I’m used to eating buttery tasting crackers and I was worried these might be horrible but I think for a gluten free product they tasted pretty good. I liked that they were flavored and enjoyed the white cheddar variety the most. They were crunchy and I really like that they are good for me since they are 100% whole grain and low in fat. I think they are a great option for people that are on gluten free diets and can’t have other cracker products.

Kernel Season’s {Review and Giveaway}

Kernel Season’s sent me some of their popcorn seasonings to taste, including their new flavors: Pumpkin Spice and Chocolate Caramel. I also tried the ranch and the BBQ flavors. My favorite was the Pumpkin Spice but I also enjoyed the BBQ flavor. The boys favorite was the Chocolate Caramel (go figure!).

Although these are popcorn seasonings I also think that they would taste good on other items. I would put the Ranch on baked potatoes, the BBQ on some grilled chicken, the Chocolate Caramel on some sugar cookies, and the Pumpkin Spice on some buttered toast. Yum.

Canvas Prints From Meijer {Ready While You Wait!}

This morning while Jacob was at preschool I headed over to Meijer to order a canvas print. I had the picture on my flash drive and went to the photo department. In less than 5 minutes I had used the in-store kiosk (with the help of an employee) and ordered my canvas print. I assumed I would have to come back another day for it but one of the other employees asked me if I had any shopping to do and said they could have it done in half an hour. HALF AN HOUR. That’s quicker than it takes my pharmacy to fill a prescription!

We walked around the store for a while and got some Christmas odds and ends and a booster seat for Jacob and then headed back over to the photo department. The canvas print was finished and it had turned out great. The employee who rang me up shared proper cleaning techniques for canvas prints including this one: don’t use a wet rag. It might seem obvious to you all but not having any canvas prints I didn’t know that cleaning them with a damp cloth was a no-no. Good thing he told me because I would have been mad if I ruined my nice print by cleaning it the wrong way.

Overall, I was really happy with the service and the quality of the canvas that I received and I was extremely happy that I could get my print the same day that I ordered it. I got an 11X14 sized print but I think next time I order one I will choose a print that’s a little larger because I like to have bigger pictures on the wall as opposed to small ones.

Gyro Bowl Review and Giveaway

I saw commercials for the Gyro Bowl on television and wondered if it really worked as well as they said it did. I had a chance to really put it to the test when I got one to review and handed it over to my two year old. He is usually given a bag or a small bowl of snacks and half of it ends up on his lap or the floor by the time he is done. He also is very active which doesn’t help when he is holding his snacks.

I liked that the bowl was dishwasher safe and had handles that Lucas could hold. The fact that the bowl had little “feet” on the bottom of it was great because then it sat nicely when set down. It has a lid which makes it easy to take on the go which is a plus. The idea of the bowl was a fantastic one- make the inner bowl spin so that it would always be upright. Genuis!

Lucas trying out the Gyro Bowl

So the big questions….DOES IT WORK? My answer: Yes, but I wouldn’t call it spill-proof. I don’t think it worked {for us} quite as good as the commercials make it seem like it will. The inner bowl did turn so that the bowl was always up right when he was moving but when he would make sudden movements cheerios would fall out of it. When he was sitting still it worked fine {but how many two year olds sit still?} WOULD I USE IT AGAIN? Yes, because it works a lot better than a plain old bowl does. WOULD I BUY ONE? Maybe. Right now there is a deal to buy 1 Gyro bowl, get one free. I would purchase it for that price but I don’t think I would pay $14.99 for one bowl.

Babar And Father Christmas DVD {Review}

Christmas movies are a must in our household during the Holiday season because it puts everyone in a festive mood and gives our family a chance to sit down and relax while we cuddle on the couch. The newest Christmas movie we have watched is Babar And Father Christmas (which is actually a remake of the 1986 classic).

Here’s more information about the movie:

“In this delightful, fully animated holiday tale, Babar’s children, Arthur, Pom, Flora and Alexander write a letter to Father Christmas asking him to visit Celesteville at Christmas.  But their letter never arrives because it is stolen by Babar’s Arch-enemy, Rataxes the Rhinoceros, who wants all of Santa’s toys for himself!  When Babar sees his children so disappointed, he decides to make a journey in search of Father Christmas.  Secretly followed by Rataxes, Babar’s adventure takes home viewers from Paris all the way to the North Pole, to the very toy shop of Father Christmas himself!  Can Babar save Christmas for Celesteville?”

My boys enjoyed the movie and I enjoyed watching a “classic” version of Babar. I also liked the fact that two bonus episodes came with the movie because it was an added surprise! Jake and Luke really loved the Babar coloring book that was included in the DVD case. They didn’t color in the booklet, they liked to just flip through the pages and look at the pictures.

The movie is available for purchase here.

Carmex Healing Lotion and Healing Cream Collection {Review and Giveaway}

Did you know that Carmex makes skin care products? I didn’t! When Carmex sent me some healing lotion and cream to try I was interested to see how it would compare to their lip care line. I opened one of the tubes and smelled it. The lotion smelled pretty strong with a hint of vanilla. It reminded me of the vanilla lip product I had tried a couple months ago. I put it on my hand and discovered that when I rubbed it in it wasn’t greasy and the smell wasn’t as strong. The lotion also seemed to last after I washed my hands which is a great perk since, with two kids, I would be having to put it on constantly if it washed off.

Renuzit Holiday Scented Air Fresheners {Giveaway}

It’s beginning to smell a lot like Christmas….well at my house at least! I just got some new air fresheners from Renuzit to try. The company sent me the Fresh Accents in Winter Berry and Festive Snow. I put the Winter Berry one in my office and the Festive Snow one in the bathroom. They both smelled really good but I think the Winter Berry is my favorite. I liked the snowflake design of the container because it doesn’t look like an air freshener. The package said that the air fresheners last up to 30 days which is awesome because normally I use spray air fresheners and the scent is gone within half an hour. They retail for about $2 each which I think is less than comparable items sell for.

Dayspring’s Recordable Storybooks {Giveaway}

Dayspring has a new line of Recordable Storybooks which feature exclusive voice-capture technology that enables a person to record each page of a book and have it played back over and over as the recipient turns the pages. The recording will not be lost, even when the batteries need to be replaced.

The books were designed for an adult to read to a child but are also perfect for adults and children to record together or for children to record for a grandparent.

Recordable Storybooks are available at Christian retail stores nationwide. Use the store locator on DaySpring.com to find your nearest Christian retail store.

We received Bedtime Prayers and Promises to review. I thought it would be a great book for Sinisa and I to record together for the boys so that if anything ever happens to us they will still be able to hear our voices. While listening to the prayers and Bible verses they will  be reminded that not only does God love them but we do, too. I thought the images were beautiful and liked that they included Woolly the lamb, a character that many children know.

T.G.I. FRiDAY’S “Entrées for One” Review

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of T.G.I. FRiDAY’S for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Entrées For One

The new line of T.G.I. FRiDAY’S “Entrées for One” solves frozen food boredom with nine new entrées inspired by the bold and fun flavors of the famed T.G.I. FRiDAY’S restaurants. From Sizzling Steak Fajitas to Cajun-Style Chicken Alfredo, the new varieties infuse a fresh new flavor and shake things up in the frozen food category.

While all the flavors looked delicious, Sinisa chose to get the sizzling chicken fajitas. I was happy with his selection because that’s what I normally order when I go to the restaurant. Sinisa and I both ate it. He thought that the rice that accompanied it had an authentic southwest flavor and the meat in the fajitas seemed like it was freshly grilled. I added some cheese and sour cream and the fajitas tasted just like they do at the restaurant. I would definitely buy these again.

Along with trying the new line of meals, head to T.G.I. FRIDAY”S Facebook Page and check out the Fun Freezer contest. There you can view pictures of fun freezers and vote on which is your favorite through October 20th. Over $7200 in prizes are up for grabs and you get to help choose who gets them!

My boys love drinking juice so they were really excited to try TummyTickler (for preschoolers) and TummyTicklerTots (for toddlers). They are also re-usable which is cost effective and dishwasher safe which makes them easy to clean (yet another bonus for this busy mom).

Shirley’s Prepackaged Crafts {Review and Giveaway}

Ever have those weeks where you plan to do a bunch of fun crafts with your child but by the time you know it, it’s the weekend and you haven’t sat down for “art” time with your child even once? I know that feeling all too well. I pin lots of fun crafts on Pinterest, I find a lot of cute ideas on other blogs, but when it comes time to preparing the craft it just doesn’t always happen. This is why, when I heard about Shirley’s Prepackaged Crafts, I knew I had to check it out!

I was sent October’s box. I opened it to find 14 different craft projects for the month. At first it just looked like a bunch of coloring pages but on further investigation I saw that it was a lot more than that. Each project consisted of multiple pages where the child colored, cut, glued, or taped things. Along with each activity is a bonus to help the project be more than just a “craft”. Some had conversation starters, some a website to check out for more information, or questions to ask your child. Shirley focuses on a color and a shape for the month and you see that throughout the activities planned.

Since today was Columbus Day, Jacob put together the Columbus Day project. In the box there was a piece of paper with the ship on it, a piece with the sails, and a half sheet of blue water with a wavy line for cutting practice which was the water. There were also craft sticks in the box. I provided the glue, markers, and scissors. I believe in letting children do as much of the projects by themselves as they can. The only thing I helped Jacob with for this one was holding the piece of paper he was cutting because he is still learning to cut. If your child is still too young for scissors you could cut the pieces out for them.

Here is Jacob’s Columbus Day project that took me only one minute to prepare (had to get items out of the box and grab my supplies:

Columbus Day craft

Shirley also includes a parent pack with a letter to parents, craft instructions, a suggested reading list, and snack ideas for the month. A monthly calendar is included as well which is a great visual learning tool for children. To encourage parents to support their children’s self-esteem she also includes a certificate of achievement. This month’s says “Way To Go” and has spaces for the parent to fill in something great their child did. Children also work on a book throughout the year and each month has a couple pages sent to complete so by the end of the year they have a book on whatever the topic is.

I also really like that there are Faith based aspects to some of these projects. {It’s easy to skip these additional projects if you do not want to do them with your child}.

Overall, I really like the concept behind these boxes. When I first saw the price I thought it was a little steep but in the end I think they are a good value considering all the time a parent will save searching for the projects and preparing a month’s worth of projects. If you would like to try Shirley’s Prepackaged Crafts out you can use coupon code MTFM to save $2 on your first order!

Windex Turns 75! {Giveaway}

I really don’t enjoy cleaning but this tip above, found on the Windex Facebook page, reminds me that cleaning is a blessing. If I’m picking up toys, washing clothes, or cleaning smudged handprints off a window it means that I have little people in my life that made those messes. How many parents of unborn children or those that have lost children would give anything to have those little mess makers in their lives? Cleaning would be a lot more enjoyable if, instead of being frustrated about yet another mess, I remembered what I had to be thankful for. I’ve also heard of parents using their cleaning time to pray for their children. Both make cleaning a joyful time instead of one that is dreaded.

Another thing that makes cleaning enjoyable is using products that actually work. Having to go back and reclean something that I just cleaned makes me frustrated. I have some “go to” cleaning products and when it comes to cleaning mirrors, windows, and faucets that product is Windex. I’ve tried other blue liquids thinking they would work the same and I was wrong. My bathroom mirrors were never spotless like they are when I used Windex.

Windex is celebrating 75 “years of shine” this year so in honor of that I am happy to be hosting a giveaway for one lucky reader!

Celebrate National Noodle Day with P.F. Chang’s

Today is National Noodle Day so to celebrate I enjoyed one of P.F. Chang’s NEW Home Menu Products! For lunch I tried their Garlic Chicken with Dan Dan Noodles meal. I liked that the noodles came in little nests so they cooked properly and weren’t too soft. The flavor was good and the chicken pieces were plentiful. Best of all, it was an easy meal. All I had to do was dump the package into a pan on the stove and cook it for about 10 minutes or so, stirring it a few times, and it was done. Those are the kind of meals I love!

See the little noodle nests?

P.F. Chang’s new products include:

  • Garlic Chicken with Dan Dan Noodles – White meat chicken with a savory garlic sauce, bell peppers, bok choy and yakisoba noodles
  • Pepper Steak with Chow Fun Noodles – Steak with a sweet and peppery sauce, bell peppers, onions and chow fun noodles
  • Grilled Chicken Teriyaki with Lo Mein Noodles – Grilled chicken with a teriyaki sauce, pineapple, red bell peppers, onions and lo mein noodles
  • Firecracker Shrimp with Yakisoba Noodles – Lightly battered shrimp with spicy sauce, carrots, edamame, onions and yakisoba noodles

See my review of other P.F. Chang’s Home Menu products here.

In addition to adding these new meals, P.F. Changs is celebrating with a National Noodle Day Sweepstakes. Just visit P.F. New M&M’s Flavor For Halloween! #MMsGetCorny

For weeks I had heard about the new White Chocolate Candy Corn M&M’s that were coming out in the Fall at Walmart. Instead of milk chocolate they were white chocolate and they were candy corn flavored. They sounded delicious. Every time I went to Walmart I looked for them and finally I found them at my local Walmart a couple days ago. I was so excited to get them home and try them. The verdict? So yummy! They are very sweet though so a handful at a time is all I can handle (which is good for my figure).

Have you found them yet? What did you think? They are slowly making there way across the US so if your store doesn’t have them yet, keep checking! Want to read more buzz about the new White Chocolate Candy Corn M&M’s? Just follow the #MMsGetCorny hashtag on Twitter. Also, make sure to click on the button below to RSVP for the Twitter Party!

Pillsbury Baking Mixes Review {And Contest Info}

REVIEW

Pillsbury sent our family a sampling of their new cakes, cookies, and brownie mixes. I was excited to see Perfectly Pumpkin cookies because I love pumpkin flavored desserts. The Mocha Fudge brownies also sounded delicious because it mixes two of my favorites (coffee and chocolate)! Jacob, my three year old, chose his favorite which of course were the Funfetti cookies because they had sprinkles and were chocolate (wonder where he got the love of chocolate from?!).

Jacob helped Daddy make the Chocolate Funfetti cookies. Daddy measured all the ingredients and Jacob did the mixing. I loved watching him try to get the egg with the spoon because the yolk kept moving. Jacob loved the way the batter smelled and kept sniffing it. His favorite part, though, was eating the cookies! Lucas ate a few, too. They liked picking the sprinkles off the cookie and gobbled them up.

I can’t wait to try the other mixes that we were sent. The only thing I like more than eating the treats is how our house smells while they are baking :)

Jeep Liberty Sport X All Terrain Stroller {Review and Giveaway}

We love the Contours Options II Tandem double stroller that we reviewed in the winter but now that Jacob is older he is wanting to walk more so we needed to get a single stroller. We got a Jeep® Liberty Sport X All Terrain Stroller to review and it’s a great stroller.

I really liked that the tires were large and went from the store, to the sidewalk, to grassy hills easily. The color of the stroller was fun, the extra large canopy kept the sun out of Luke’s eyes, there is a child cupholder for Luke to put his sippy cup, and the stroller was easy to steer. The cargo pockets were a nice addition to the stroller and perfect for keeping items accessible.

The only things I would have changed would be the under-basket. Though I loved that it had a divider and was large, I wish that it was taller. I sometimes worried that things would fall out of it because it was shallow.

Heelys Review

I often saw kids skating down sidewalks, in stores, and at the park and always wondered how Heelys worked. Well, guess what? I now know because I reviewed them myself! When I saw Heelys was looking for moms to review their skate shoes I laughed. I couldn’t imagine myself skating around while I pushed my kids in their stroller. My curiosity got the best of me in the end and I got a pair for review.

I liked that the shoes looked like regular skate shoes and reminded me of the shoes I wore in high school. Though I tried to skate in them I think I would rather use them without wheels as I go about my day. I did like that the wheels came out easily with the tool that is provided with the shoes since I just assumed the wheels were always out and the person wearing them just needed to find a way to walk with the wheels attached. I also liked that the Heelys website has directions and videos to learn the tricks (though I didn’t attempt to do any of them as I couldn’t skate that well!)

I can see why they are popular with kids because they are fun and have great designs. Here are some of my favorite pairs for kids:

Infant To Toddler Bathwrap {Review and Giveaway}

I recently reviewed the Aacua by Maamam which is a 4 in 1 bath towel. The mom can wear it as an apron, can use it as a towel, can wrap a baby in it, and it can be used as a bathwrap for a toddler or preschooler. I like that it can be used for years instead of having to switch from infant towels to adult towels when the baby gets larger.

Since I have a 2 and 3 year old my children only used it as a bathwrap. Here is a picture of Jacob wearing the Aacua after bathtime:

Though the company provides in depth instructions for using the product, I thought it was easy to use as an apron (for mom) and a bathwrap (for child). The item even has color coded velcro to make it easier to use. I thought the towel was soft and it was very thick, unlike most of the infant towels I used for my children when they were younger that were thin and rough.

One lucky reader will win a Maamam Aacua bath product

Drano Snake Plus Review {And Link To $1000 Giveaway}

Life around here is extremely busy. With work, blogging, and family I already have enough on my to-do list. The last thing I need to add to it is a clogged drain!

I was sent Drano Snake Plus to review and used it in the boy’s bathroom. After Lucas got his tubes he had to wear ear plugs in his ears during bath time and one day Jacob decided to stick the putty like earplug into the sink drain and it got stuck. This was a few weeks ago and sad to say it was still in there because I hadn’t gotten around to trying to get it out.

Here are the steps to use Drano Snake Plus:

The earplug was visible in the drain but just stuck enough that I couldn’t get to it easily.

I used the flexible tool to get the earplug out and then snaked it all the way down in the drain as far as I could. Here were the results (beware: lots of gunk!)

I thought the product worked well. My boys don’t have long hair so there wasn’t much in the drain (mine would be full of it…) I loved that the tool inserted into the drain was flexible and at 18 inches would reach most clogs. The box says it works or you get your money back. Can’t beat that guarantee!

Carmex Review and Giveaway

As part of the Carmex blog squad I get to try out new Carmex products. This past month the company sent me three of their newer products. I tried the Carmex Vanilla Click Stick, Carmex Lime Click Stick, and the Carmex Moisture Plus Clear Satin Gloss Finish.

My favorite was the Carmex Vanilla Stick. Vanilla is one of my favorite scents so I loved the smell of it. I like that I feel a little tingle when I put the lip balm on my lips because it seems like I’m feeling my lips heal. My lips looked shiny when I had it on (as opposed to some that make my lips look matte and dull). After a couple days of wearing it I notice that my lips are smoother which is my main reason for wearing the chap stick in the first place. I also liked the Moisture Plus chapstick. I didn’t like the flavor and scent of the Lime one because I’m not a fan of Limes but Sinisa liked it.

My Thoughts On The 2011 Dodge Grand Caravan

Dodge was kind enough to give Kris and I a van to get to North Carolina for the Type A Parent Conference. I’ve written about the conference but also wanted to share my thoughts on the vehicle they loaned us.

I will start this off by saying that I LOVE minivans. I have ever since I can remember! (Embarrassing fact: My DREAM car since Junior High has been a Chrysler Town and Country minivan.) Growing up I always thought of the Dodge Grand Caravan as a *cheap* version of the Town and Country but my thoughts have since changed- so much so that I would now be honored to own a Dodge Grand Caravan! I loved this van and I wanted to share the features I thought were fantastic and the features I would change.

Things I liked:

1) Sensors on the sideview mirrors that let you know when a car is in your blind spot

2) The USB port where I was able to charge my phone and my external charger

3) The extra storage in the middle of the driver’s seat and the passenger seat

4) The dual glove compartments (is mine the only one that is always overflowing?)

5) Seats that fold into the floor for towing large items and the extra space it provides

6) Fold down front mirror that would let me easily view my children in the back seats

7) ECon button to conserve gas

8) Lots of cupholders (seems there are never enough in most vehicles)

9) Built in sunshades that my children can’t pull off the windows

10) Separate temperature controls for driver and passenger (I hate being cold!).

11) Heated seats AND steering wheel

12) Auto open doors and back hatch (my hands are always full with two little kids)

13) Great navigation system

What I disliked:

1) The gear shift (I’m used to straight up and down.)

2) When the van’s ECon button was pushed the pickup on hills was slower

***

Overall, like I said before, I loved this minivan (especially compared to my current sedan). I hope that if you are currently shopping for a minivan my honest, mom of two young children’s review of the Dodge Grand Caravan helped!

(Disclosure: Dodge loaned us a Grand Caravan to drive from Chicago to North Carolina and gave us gas money but all thoughts are my own and I was not asked to write this review.)

Wisharoo Park Review and Giveaway (5 Winners)

Do you have a preschooler? If so, you need to check out Wisharoo Park. Wisharoo Park is, according to the website, “a multimedia edutainment series designed to help children ages 3-6 recognize and appreciate their own individuality. With its technology-based curriculum, Wisharoo Park helps children discover and understand their own personal strengths and in doing so, develop greater self-esteem and a positive self-image. Unique among hundreds of preschool programs, Wisharoo Park is specifically focused on teaching social skills and building self-esteem.”

Wisharoo Park’s website is full of fun for children and parents to do together. There are games to play, videos to watch, and activities to do offline. Some of my favorite activities are: “Quiet Monkey, Noisy Monkey” in which children learn about where they can be loud and where they need to be quiet and also the “Politeness Party” where children practice saying “please” and “thank you”.

There are also Wisharoo Park DVD’s. Jacob really enjoyed watching the ones we received for review. I like them because they teach social skills. As many of you know, my boys have sensory issues, and they are still learning what appropriate behavior in social settings looks like. I like that these episodes really focus on and model correct social behavior.

Tellurian Baby Skin Care Review and Giveaway

I recently received the line of Tellurian Baby skin care products to review. On first glance I loved them because of their bright colors and fun swirly pumps. Upon use I liked that the lotions weren’t greasy and the body wash made our skin feel soft (yes, moms can use it, too!). The scented products all smelled wonderful. I think best of all though, is the fact that these products are natural so they are safe for children and won’t irritate their delicate skin.

As someone who loves working with charities I was also happy to see that Tellurian Baby donates a portion of every sale to charities helping children around the world.

Kidzikoo Review and Giveaway

We recently had the chance to review the Kidzikoo which is like a Koozie for kids. This product is perfect for keeping juice, milk, and water cool, especially during the hot summer months when we are playing outside. Nobody (including children) want something lukewarm to drink, they want a cool refreshing drink! I loved that the Kidzikoo fit like a glove on our Playtex sippy cups. They soaked up the condensation from the cup and didn’t leave wet spots on the couch or table.

The Kidzikoo currently comes in five patterns (shown above). I love the Lucia print and think the owls are so cute! I also like the zig zag stitching on them. Overall, the Kidzikoos are fun and functional.

Dinosaur Whirl Review and Giveaway

Dinosaur Whirl is a new game from Pressman. The game is for children ages 3 and up in which each player goes on a hunt for dinosaur eggs.

Jacob and I played the game this past week. It was relatively easy to set up except the playing track pieces took me a few minutes to figure out how they went together. The directions for playing the game are simple to follow. The game doesn’t take long to play which is perfect for Jacob’s short attention span. I was surprised at how quickly he learned how to roll the die and figure out which spot to move his playing piece to.  He liked collecting the eggs and thought it was funny when the dinosaur knocked down the playing pieces with his tail. Overall, we had a great time playing the game together.

GIVEAWAY

One reader will win their own Dinosaur Whirl Game.

The Best Family Destinations (Book Review and Giveaway)

I was sent a copy of The Complete Idiot’s Guide To The Best Family Destinations to review. This book covers the top 150 destinations in the US, Canada, and Mexico. I saw my favorites in the book including Chicago, San Francisco, Wisconsin Dells, and Hershey, PA. I also found a few places I’d love to travel with my family like Santa Claus, Indiana and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.

Each location in this book has information on the area, tourist attractions, and a website and phone number. There are fun facts, vacation planning tips, and notes from fellow travelers sprinkled throughout the book. The book also includes an appendix in the back with a list of the “best of the best” towns. This makes it easy to find a location based on what you are looking for (best beach, best cultural and historical attractions, best amusement park, etc.)

Kerusso -Christian Clothing Company (Review)

We had a chance to review a t-shirt from Kerusso, a Christian Clothing Company. I got a shirt for Sinisa to wear on Father’s Day and he really loved the design of the shirt and the fact that it was a “dad” shirt (his first!)

Here he is modeling his new shirt:

Kerusso.com has a huge selection of shirts but they also sell other items for the whole family. Here are some of my favorite products from their site:

Little Lasso Review and Giveaway

We recently had the chance to review The Little Lasso on our trip to the zoo. I loved that it has an adjustable fit and fits snuggly around any sippy cup that we put it on. The fabric choices are fun and hip and they are machine washable which is fantastic. The Little Lasso is long enough for the child to comfortably drink out of while it’s hooked on to the stroller, cart, or highchair. Overall it kept the sippy cup off the floor which was the main purpose of the product.

My Little Easter Bunny

(Picture taken at JCPenney Portraits Studio)

Lucas cried all through pictures but I still had to show how adorable he was in his Easter costume. Wholesale Costume Club sells costumes for Halloween but they also sell costumes for children to dress up in all through out the year. I chose the Elite Lil Bunny Infant Costume for Toddler because I had reviewed that brand’s lion costume for Halloween and loved the quality of their costumes. At the portrait studio I got so many complements on how cute he looked and what a great bunny costume it was. I like that the costumes come with footies so when they wear the costume inside they can have the complete animal look from head to toe.

(Disclosure: I received a costume from Wholesale Costume Club but all thoughts are my own.)

ProFlowers Review and Giveaway

It’s a well known fact that most women love flowers. Personally, seeing flowers in a vase brightens my day so I was excited to be able to do a review for ProFlowers and then gift a bouquet of 30 purple tulips to my Grandma for Easter.

I received the flowers in a box on Friday morning and all day long they sat in the unopened box because I thought I was going to make it to my Grandma’s house that day to drop them off. Late that evening before I went to bed I took the flowers out of the box and stuck them in a vase full of tap water. To be honest I was a bit worried because they were looking kind of droopy since I hadn’t put them in water right away. The next day I noticed the flowers had perked up and by Sunday afternoon I had a beautiful bouquet of vibrant purple flowers to bring to Easter dinner.

ProFlowers ships their tulips in bud form, which means that they haven’t fully developed.  I was told the flowers would stay fresh for at least a week which gives my Grandma lots of time to enjoy the tulips!

If you are still looking for a Mother’s Day gift you can find a great variety of Mother’s Day flowers on the ProFlowers website. Since I know a lot of you love coupons be sure to check out their coupon page where you can save up to 20% off your order and find out how to get a free vase and weekday delivery among other deals.
