Freebies For Kids

Freebies kids will love

Everyone loves getting things in the mail, especially children who get really excited because they don’t yet equate the mailbox with bills. I thought it would be fun to share a list of FREE things that kids can get, either through the mail or in person at stores. Here are some of our favorites we discovered:

1) LEGO offers a LEGO magazine and it’s free to subscribe to. My boys love it! Learn more about how to subscribe here.

2) Many sports teams have special kid’s clubs to celebrate their littlest fans! Perks may include free tickets and special goodies when they attend games. Check your local team’s website to see if they offer a kid’s club. If you live in Chicago here are some of our local team’s kids clubs.

3) Kids who are members of the Albertsons Kid’s Club enjoy lots of perks just for accompanying their parents to the grocery store. This club offers free snack sized apple, banana or orange every shopping trip, a free adventure fruit to encourage kids to explore new tastes every month, a free cake square or giant cupcake on their birthday, and a birthday card with treat and coupons for full-size birthday cakes for their party.. Learn more and sign up here.

4) During the summer kids are encouraged to read thanks to a number of places that offer summer reading programs. Check out my list of places that typically participate and offer perks for kids that read over the summer.

Home Depot Kid's Workshop

5) Budding builders will love the hands-on, DIY workshops at Home Depot. Children who attend these monthly workshops receive a building kit, apron, and special pin (while supplies last). Learn about upcoming workshops here. To give you an idea of projects, my local store’s next workshop is a celebration of National Fire Safety Month where children (with an adults help if needed) will build a model fireboat to put out shoreline or shipboard fires and transport emergency personnel and rescue workers. Once the firefighting vessel construction is complete, children can decorate it with paint and stickers and give it a name like the historically famous fireboats.

6) Those who shop at Whole Foods will want to join their kid’s club where kids can get a complimentary organic apple, 100% Organic fruit leather, or natural animal crackers each visit. They also host in-store events for kids club members that range from healthy learning to cooking classes to art activities. Learn more here.

7. Birthday celebrations are always more fun with a special treat so members of the Barnes & Noble kid’s club receive a free cupcake on their birthday each year. There are also a couple other perks as well. Learn more and sign up here.

8) Bass Pro Shops offers activities and take-home crafts for kids throughout the year to encourage children’s love of the outdoors. They also offer kid’s camps in the summer-time. Contact your local store to find out what upcoming events are happening near you.

9) Kids love playing at Chuck E Cheese so why not sign up for their ‘More Cheese’ Rewards program to earn even more fun bonuses? The program offers rewards for the child’s birthday and half-birthday as well as a number of other benefits like free pizza! Sign up here.

10) Looking for something fun to do on the weekends? Lakeshore Learning stores offer frree crafts every Saturday from 11am to 3pm. Upcoming crafts include back-to-school photo frames, personalized bookmarks, and a number of holiday and seasonal crafts. Learn more here.

What other kid’s clubs and freebies for kids have you discovered? Let me know so I can add them to this list! You can chat with me on social here: twitter, instagram, facebook.

Free Summer Reading Programs For Kids

This list has been updated for Summer 2016 :)

Jake learned to read this year and just recently has started reading for the fun of it, as opposed to reading because he has to. This has made my heart so happy. I want to do everything I can to encourage the boys to read over the summer so I will be signing them up for all the reading programs I can. I am sharing these free summer reading programs for kids because I thought you all would be interested in signing your children up as well. Most of them are available nationally and each one costs nothing to sign up. Some even give prizes to children who read a certain amount of books. If you know of any others please leave a comment on this post and I’ll add them to the list.

Make Brushing Fun With Free Coloring Books

(Disclosure: This is a sponsored post but thoughts are my own.)

My boys were home from school yesterday due to the cold weather and they are off again today. If your kids are off too and you are looking for something to keep them busy while you are stuck inside I have an idea.

Tom’s of Maine just announced a coloring and activity book called “Brushing Fun,” which supports Oral Health America, a national nonprofit dedicated to oral care and prevention. With each free coloring book download, Tom’s of Maine will donate 10 tubes of its Wicked Cool! natural toothpaste (up to 200,000 tubes) to children in OHA’s  Smiles Across America program.

We downloaded it yesterday and my kids got to coloring them and doing the activity sheets. I liked that you could add your child’s name on them and Lucas liked seeing his name while coloring. Here is one of the finished coloring sheets:

As an added bonus, parents enter to win a great Tom’s of Maine prize package. They can show off their kid’s creativity and inspire others to get involved by sharing a photo of a completed page from the coloring book on Facebook or Instagram  using #NaturalSmiles for a chance to win a Tom’s of Maine natural oral care prize pack and a $100 Utrecht Art Store gift card to foster their child’s creativity. Five winners total, one each week.

Want to participate? Find the coloring and activity book download here. Get social with Tom’s of Maine on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

FREE 40-day eBook Devotional

I heard about this ebook devotional from the MOB Society and just had to go check it out. The Seed Company is offering a free 40-day devotional for people to use during Lent. I was unfamiliar with The Seed Company so I poked around their site a bit.

Did you know that nearly 2,000 languages – 300 million people – worldwide still do not have one verse of scripture in their language? I mean, I knew there were some people that didn’t have it, but 300 million? That number is too high. I literally have tears in my eyes right now at the thought of all those people who have never, ever heard the word of God. 300 MILLION.

I knew I had to do something. An obvious way to help is to donate money. Another way to help is by praying. The Seed Company wants prayer partners for the different projects going on throughout the world.

While you are on the site getting your free devotional, I’d ask you to take a look around the site, check out the prayer requests, and, if you feel led to, sign up to pray for this vital ministry.

VeggieTales Gifts Of Service Coupons {Printable}

Here’s another great printable from VeggieTales in honor of the Lettuce Love One Another DVD. Today’s theme is serving others. You can talk as a family about what nice things you can do for others and then fill out these cards. I’m thinking about doing them with Jacob and then having him give them to daddy for Valentine’s Day :)

{PDF will load below. You can then download to your computer and print}

(Disclosure: I received a copy of the movie but am not being compensated for posting this printable.)

VeggieTales Kindness Chart {Printable}

Love VeggieTales? They have a Valentine’s Day DVD called ‘Lettuce Love One Another’ and in honor of that movie I have a bunch of fun printables to share! Today’s theme is “Be Kind”.

Lesson: Be Kind

Optional Verse: Ephesians 4:32

Free Printable: Kindness Chart and Punch Card

This chart is a place to list ways your family shows kindness to others throughout the week. The Kindness Cards at the bottom of the printable offer a place to personalize for each child or family member. A punch can be given each time they are kind to others! This printable is a tool to remind us that God doesn’t want us to spread words that hurt, God wants us to spread nice words!

{PDF will load below and then you can download and print!}

Parental Guidance Movie Pre-Screening {Free Tickets}

If you are in the Chicago area I have a special treat for you! I get to offer 20 of my readers a pair of tickets to the pre-screening of this movie. I’ve seen the previews for it and it looks like it’s going to be a hit. Here’s the synopsis of the movie:

Old school grandfather Artie (Billy Crystal), who is accustomed to calling the shots, meets his match when he and his eager-to-please wife Diane (Bette Midler) agree to babysit their three grandkids when their type-A helicopter parents (Marisa Tomei, Tom Everett Scott) go away for work. But when 21st century problems collide with Artie and Diane’s old-school methods of tough rules, lots of love and old-fashioned games, it’s learning to bend–and not holding your ground–that binds a family together.

ABC’s with Bingzy Bee: Phonics {Free App- 2 Days Only!}

I’ve been working with Bing Note to help promote their new IPhone/IPod application, ABC’s with Bingzy Bee: Phonics. This application uses a fun ABC song to teach phonics and was developed by an award winning teacher who found success with this method in her classroom. I had to share this with you all this weekend because for today and tomorrow (March 31st and April 1st) this application is FREE! {It’s normally only 99 cents but a penny saved is a penny saved, right?}

I don’t have an IPhone but I have seen great reviews from other bloggers. Here’s what other moms and teachers had to say about the application:

“My students enjoyed this game and were able to play it with ease.” ~Rebecca, The Beauty of it all

“…it’s really a great way to introduce basic phonics skills to your child.” ~Kimberly, 2 Kids and a Coupon

“Overall my son and I really like this app as it is another fun way for him to explore and learn his letters.” ~Alicia, The Mama Report

“This app is a cute & fun app for waiting in the doctor’s office or a way to keep the kids busy for a few minutes.” ~Kristi, Creative Kristi

“….this is what makes it a great app.  She can use it for years to come.” ~Brande, Faith and Family Reviews

“This app is one of Willow’s favorite apps right now.” ~Debi,The Spring Mount 6 Pack

You can find out more about the app on their website here or download ABC’s with Bingzy Bee: Phonics from the app store here.

(Disclosure: I did not receive compensation for posting this on my personal blog, however, this is a client of Living Your Moment, a company I am co-owner of. Bloggers quoted received compensation for their time. All thoughts are our own and honest opinions.)
