She Can’t Get A Transplant Because She Has Mental Delays

“Did you just say that Amelia shouldn’t have the transplant done because she is mentally retarded”

“She is not eligible because of her quality of life, because of her mental delays.”

Do those quotes from this post enrage you as much as they do me? Just because a child has mental delays does not mean that they don’t still deserve the same care as everyone else.

This is a story I have to share because this is not okay and I think if we all stand up to this hospital maybe something will change. Probably not for our medical community as a whole but even if it’s just for this little girl it’s been worth it!

    This kind of thing just makes me cry. I am so glad that I live in Canada where health care is free and universal. I am praying for her family.
