Cool Cuts 4 Kids {Review and Giveaway}

Lucas is one of those kids that constantly seems to be needing a haircut so I was excited to visit Cool Cuts 4 Kids for the first time. As soon as I walked in I knew the place would be a hit with both my children. I loved that there were things to keep the kids busy while they waited to get their hair cut. There was a television playing kids shows and a “game” wall for the older kids to play video games.

We went in the early afternoon. I had scheduled an appointment but we would have been okay that day just walking in without an appointment too since there was no wait. It did get busier right around the time we were leaving so I’d recommend making an appointment if you can.

The person that cut my son’s hair did a great job. She asked me what I wanted done to his hair and didn’t judge me when I said, “I really don’t care. I just don’t want to have to get another haircut in another couple weeks.” I always thought I’d be one of those parents who was really particular about my children’s hairstyles but I’m just not that way. She was very thorough cutting his hair and even asked me if he would be ok with clippers before she used them on him. I think he looked adorable with his new haircut and he enjoyed watching Toy Story 2 and didn’t even seem to care that someone was doing something with his hair.

Haircuts are about $18 so since I had a gift card I picked up some hair care products for the kids. They were buy one, get one half off plus I received 20% off my entire purchase because it was my first time in the salon. With the purchase of two hair care items I also got a free Cars 2 set which I’m putting away for the first day of school. The employees had difficulties with the register which was frustrating since I was holding my two year old for 15-20 minutes but they kept apologizing and in the end gave me Luke’s haircut for free to make up for keeping me waiting while they figured out the register issues. I thought that was nice of them and overall I had a positive experience so I would return. (Though I do wish they had a store closer to my home since this salon was about 45 minutes away from my house.)

Hair Rules

The above is a picture of me at the HairRules salon in New York City at a party for bloggers thrown by MomTrends, Nicole Feliciano.

One of the ladies there was straightening my partially curly-partially straight hair and put it in these huge rollers for volume. I then had a chance to meet Dickey a celebrity hairstylist who has worked with people such as Sarah Jessica Parker and Alicia Keys, written a book called Hair Rules, and had his work featured in magazines such as Vogue and Vanity Fair. After chatting with me he told me he loved my hair color and then he said he wanted to cut MY hair. The haircut from him was definitely one of the top highlights of my trip!
