My Final #knockoutthefat Update

weight8-7

Here we are at the end of the George Foreman Knock Out The Fat Weight Loss Challenge. My final weight is 179.4 and I have lost a total of 12.2 pounds! My goal for this challenge was to lose at least 10 pounds and I have exceeded that goal. My BMI went from 31 to 29. My waist went from 42 3/4 inches to 37 1/4 inches and my hips went from 45 1/2 inches to 43 1/2 inches!

Before

After

I have learned so much throughout this journey. I’ve learned to eat in moderation. I’ve learned that foods I think are healthy may have hidden calories in them. And I’ve learned that healthy foods can taste delicious!

I’ve loved using my George Foreman Grill to cook delicious food. I’ve enjoyed grilling vegetables, meats, paninis, and making pancakes all with one appliance that is easily portable.

I made some videos about my grill so check them out if you haven’t seen them yet:

1) Making a Southwestern Chicken Panini

2) Making pancakes

3) How easy it is to clean the grill

4) Knocking the fat out of meat

One more pound…. #knockoutthefat

weight8-1

I lost two pounds this week which surprised me because I kind of splurged on my birthday. I went to a theme park that day though so I’m guessing the miles I walked burned all the calories from that funnel cake I ate. I currently weigh 182.6 which means I have lost a total of nine pounds since the start of the George Foreman #knockoutthefat weight loss challenge. My goal is ten pounds (or more) and this is the last week of the challenge so I hope to lose at least one pound this coming week. My BMI is down to 29.5.

In case you missed it here is a yummy Southwestern Chicken Panini recipe I posted this past week: yum.

#KnockOutTheFat Week in Review

weight 7-25

I do so well eating healthy foods during the week but then on the weekend I enjoy myself a little too much. This weekend I went out to dinner Friday night with my family and had pizza. I enjoyed the pizza but did not go overboard in how many pieces I ate which is something I would have done just a few short months ago. On Saturday I went to ChiTown Mom’s Nite Out. I didn’t eat before the event because there was a chef that would be preparing food for us and I left my house at around 3 in the afternoon which is way too early for dinner. I ended up eating way more appetizers than I had planned on because I was starving. The chef did say that the items were healthy (they had lots of veggies in them) but I don’t think they were necessarily low in fat.

Exercise wise I did a lot of indoor walking but nothing outdoors. It was hot and humid outside and I was dripping sweat just walking to the mailbox. This week is supposed to be a little cooler (though still hot) so I hope to get outside and take the kids for more walks. I didn’t use my wii at all this week for exercising but was successful in my “desk workouts”.

Overall, I lost .4 pounds and am down 7 pounds total since the start of this challenge. My BMI is 29.8. I am proud of the progress I am making because this is the most I have ever lost while doing a “challenge”. I still hope to drop 3 pounds in the next few weeks so I need to really focus on eating nothing unhealthy and exercising more than I am. I will let myself have one “cheat” day though for my birthday and have a slice of cake (but a moderate one)!

Also, be on the lookout for some YouTube videos from me this week and next week! I’m going to share just how easy it is to use (and clean) the George Foreman Grill and show you just how much fat using the grill can “knock out” :)

#KnockOutTheFat Weekly Update

weight7-18

This week I am down .4 pounds and currently weigh 185 pounds which is down 6.6 pounds since the start of the campaign. My BMI is 29.9.

I have found a great way to stay active while sitting at my desk working many hours a day. I started using Spotify which is a free music service. Listening to music while I work keeps me moving and constantly burning calories whether I’m tapping my foot or dancing in my seat.

Food wise I’ve worked on eating dinner earlier which is one of the problems I brought up in last week’s post. I ate an earlier dinner 5 out of the 7 nights this past week. I also ate well pretty much the whole week. My only “bad” day was  Saturday when I was at a blogging event. I had a sandwich and salad for lunch and a salad for dinner but ate some cheesecake they served for afternoon snack and had a few too many snacks at the “after party” .

#KnockOutTheFat Weekly Update

weight7-10

I finally feel like I am on the right track!

Food:

GOOD: I cut out so many calories by watching for those “hidden calories” that I talked about last week.

GOOD: Yummy wraps for lunch made on my George Foreman Grill.

NOT SO GOOD: Eating late at night. When I’m working I don’t realize that dinnertime has come and gone until my tummy growls!

Exercise:

GOOD: I am loving the Wii Fit!!

GOOD: I am making extra “trips” for things on different levels of my house so that I have to go up the stairs more often!

NOT SO GOOD: I had hoped to start my day with working out but I always seem to do most of it late at night and then I’m energized when I should be ready to go to sleep.

***

I currently weigh 185.4 which is a 1.4 pound loss since last week and a total loss of 6.2 pounds. Even better? My BMI is 29.9 which means I am no longer obese!!!! This was the first goal that I was hoping to hit in this challenge and I made it! My next challenge is losing a total of 10 pounds. I have less that 4 pounds to go to make that goal a reality.

#KnockOutTheFat Weekly Update

weight6-12

I’ve noticed my weight yo-yo’ing lately. One week I’ll lose weight, the next I’ll gain, and then I’ll be down the next week. This week I am down. I lost 1.4 pounds since last check-in and so far am down 4.4 pounds since the start of this journey. My BMI is still stuck at 30 and I’d love to see it go down to 29 so I am no longer “obese”. I am SO close to that next goal.

I did pretty well with eating this week though I did have a day (ok maybe two) where I didn’t eat completely healthy. I discovered Wendy’s new berry salad which is so tasty. I turn it into two meals because I think that the salad they sell is too much for one meal. I am trying to figure out how to make it myself so I can grill my own meat on my George Foreman Grill and make salads for half the cost as their’s.

The Reasons I Eat #knockoutthefat

weight5-30

I am down two pounds from last week! Woohoo! I now weigh 186.8 and have a BMI of 30.1. So far during this challenge I have lost 4.8 pounds. I have been eating healthier and using my George Foreman grill to “knock out the fat” in my meat.

I have been noticing recently that I tend to turn to food when I’m stressed out or bored. I’ve found myself taking breaks from what I’m doing to walk into the kitchen for something to eat. I’ll open the fridge, then the freezer, and then the snack cabinet. I  used to grab whatever looked good at the time. Now I open them up but I ask myself the following questions- “Am I hungry?” and “Is that healthy?” If I’m not hungry I will get a water bottle and walk out of the kitchen. If I am hungry I will look for a low calorie snack. I have found this to be helpful in losing weight because eating when I’m not hungry out of boredom, stress, or another emotion does nothing but put the weight on. I sure don’t feel less stressed, less bored, or happier after I am done eating whatever it was I chose to snack on.

I’m Learning To Eat Healthier #KnockOutTheFat challenge

weight5-22

This past week was by far the busiest week I have had all year. I ended up eating out a lot with family because my little sister was in town and I went to three birthday parties. I ended up gaining one pound this week and currently weigh 188.8 pounds and have a BMI of 30.5. I was really disappointed I didn’t  lose weight but I was also proud of myself. I was proud that I had made some good food choices throughout the week…

-At party #1 there was no cake. At  party #2 there was cake and I had two bites of the strawberry filling. At party #3 there were two cakes and I had half a piece of one of them. In the past I would have enjoyed large pieces of cake and at the party with two cakes I would have *had* to try both.

-At my brother’s party there were many appetizers and I didn’t eat any of them. For dinner we had lasagna and I wanted seconds of it because I was still hungry but I chose to eat seconds of the vegetables instead.

-When I went to the movies for the screening of Pirate’s of the Caribbean I would have normally ate a whole bag of candy. I allowed myself a handful of Reese’s Pieces.

As you can see, I ate some unhealthy foods this past week but I am learning to control my eating and practice moderation. That lesson alone was more valuable than the weight loss would have been because I am learning healthy eating habits that  will extend beyond this challenge.

Losing Weight! #KnockOutTheFat

I lost 3.8 pounds!!!!

I lost 3.8 pounds!!!!

So excited that I lost weight! 3.8 pounds is a lot considering I got in the challenge late and missed the first two days so it was only 5 days. My BMI lowered from 31 to 30.3 which doesn’t seem like much but now I am only .3 away from being “overweight” instead of “obese”.

What I did differently this past week:

-I walked more and “speed cleaned” (challenged myself to sweep and mop as fast as I could)

-Ate healthier and used my George Foreman grillAlysa put together a meal plan for me and gave me ideas of portion sizes. This helped a lot since I used to think if it was not too fattening it was ok to eat as much as I wanted of it.

-Cut down on sugary, caffeinated drinks

This coming week I plan to:

-Make sure not to skip meals or snacks (I’ve been so busy I forget to eat!)

-Cut down even more on the caffeinated drinks and drink more water

-Follow the circuits that @fitmomtraining is giving us to do and exercise more

A Healthier Me

gf logo1

I am so excited to announce that I have been chosen as one of ten blog ambassadors for the 90-day George Foreman Knock Out the Fat Weight Loss Challenge! This is the kick in the butt that I have been waiting for and the best part about this challenge is that I have a wonderful group of women supporting me through out the challenge along with an exercise routine to follow, a personalized meal plan, and a George Foreman Grill to use.

So without further stalling by me, here is my starting weight:

Not only is that more than I ever weighed in my life (well except when I was pregnant) but my BMI is 31 which is OBESE!

Current picture

That is beyond embarrassing especially considering that when I first moved out on my own I looked like this:

That’s what happens when you have kids and don’t take care of yourself.

All that changes this week.

I am going to start MAKING TIME FOR MOMMY to get healthier!

(Disclosure: I am one of 10 Brand Ambassadors in the George Foreman Knock out the Fat Weight Loss Challenge. I was sent a George Foreman Grill for my participation in this challenge and will be compensated for my time at the end of the challenge. All opinions are my own.)
