5 Subscription Boxes That Make Great Gifts

Disclosure: Some samples were received but all thoughts are my own.

Subscription boxes are all the rage nowadays. From snacks to makeup to pet products to crafts to candles, there is a subscription box out there for everyone on your list. I thought I’d share some of my favorites that would make great gifts for those hard to shop for people!

SnackNation- A snack box subscription perfect for college students and families

Previously a subscription service only for offices, SnackNation just launched their service to homes nationwide. They are a healthy snack delivery service that curates new, innovative snacks from emerging brands and delivers them all in a monthly subscription box. Each box contains 15 full-size, healthy snacks to try. Each product contains no artificial anything, including colors, sweeteners & flavors. They offer a variety of box choices including a favorites box with their top picks and a gluten-free box. In my box, my favorite snacks were barkTHINS snacking chocolate in dark chocolate almond with sea salt flavor, basil and garlic olives from OLOVES and sweet Maui onion flavored potato chips from Deep River Snacks. SnackNation also donates a meal to Feeding America for every box purchased (which I love).

The monthly cost is $24.99 but you can get your first box FREE (just pay S&H). Learn more and subscribe here.

Vellabox- A curated candle subscription box

Know a person who loves candles? Vellabox is a curated candle subscription box that sources the highest quality candles hand-poured by American artisans and combines them with a bonus lifestyle gift and a unique packaging style to create a memorable unboxing experience each and every month. My sample box contained a candle from Glint Candles in ‘Firewood Spice & smoke’ scent and one from Often Wander in ‘Amber Vanilla’ scent along with two snack bars and a coupon for a free organic drink. The box also includes a card with more about the brands and the U.S. cities they were made in.

Vellabox offers 3 monthly subscription options, ranging from $10 to $30 a month. Learn more and subscribe here.

Kiwi Crate- A hands on learning subscription box for children and tweens

Kiwi Crate offers a STEAM subscription box service that is perfect for children and tweens. They offer four different boxes: Koala Crate (play and learn activities for ages 3-4), Kiwi Crate (science and art activities for children ages 5-8), Doodle Crate (art and design activities for children ages 9 and up) and Tinker Crate (science and engineering activities for ages 9 and up). New crates are sent monthly and each box will arrive with the materials and instructions for hours of hands-on fun so kids can learn crucial STEAM skills as they create and tinker!

All boxes are $19.95/month. Learn more and subscribe here.

Mantry- A food subscription box for men

Mantry is a subscription box that features hand-selected products from the top American food makers. Every two months six full-size products are delivered in a nice crate. Each box is curated around a unique theme, like “Bacon Nation” or “Bourbon BBQ”.

Mantry offers 3 different length subscriptions with one month costing $59 (which is about $8/product when you figure in shipping). Learn more and subscribe here.

Play! by Sephora- A beauty subscription box

The Play! by Sephora subscription box brings you the best of the best products. Each box contains five deluxe sized samples plus a fragrance bonus. Each month subscribers also get a cute, reusable bag that goes along with the box’s theme. What I like about this subscription box is that it’s great for pros and newbies alike because it gives tips and ideas for using each product.

Play! by Sephora is only $10 a month. There is usually a waiting list to get the box but I was only waiting for a couple weeks for spots to open up. Learn more and subscribe here.

Have you ever gifted a subscription box before? I’d love to hear which ones are your favorite to give (and receive).

  1. I have been looking for some new subscription boxes to give as gifts and I really love all the ones you featured! I have relatives who live out of state and these are such great ways to send them gifts!
