My Oscar Viewing Party

The 2011 Oscars

Last night we had a party and invited some family over to watch the Oscars. I loved the Party BluPrints Blog‘s guide to hosting the perfect Oscar viewing party and took some ideas from that site. We enjoyed so much yummy food:

Appetizers

***

"Shrimp Shots" - No alcohol needed!

***

Mozzarella, Tomato, and Basil Roll-Ups

***

Chips and salsa (both regular and homemade black bean and corn salsa)

***

Orville Redenbacher's popcorn! (Love that I didn't have to dirty another dish because it came in it's own bowl)

***

Vegetable Quesadillas (Delicious! Used Parmesan cheese instead of Cojita cheese and also put filling in the quesadilla before heating the tortillas in the oven)

***

Cupcakes with gold sprinkles as the "accessories"

***

Angel food cake and strawberries

***

Everyone enjoyed the food as we talked about the Red Carpet fashions and which movies we wanted to win. I was voting for The Social Network and Toy Story 3 because, honestly, those are the only movies that I have had a chance to watch. My sister-in-law amazed me with her knowledge of all the actors and actresses that came on screen. One of our favorites was Anne Hathaway so we enjoyed watching her co-host the awards.

Overall, it was a fun night. Before the guests left I had one snap a picture of Sinisa and I:
